Greetings!
Welcome to this edition of Stakeholder News. Friends and supporters, there is so much good news to share—from summer cross-sector internships to our transformational gift from the Luther Hodges family to October’s Frontiers Conference at The Carolina Inn and the recent selection of our newest class of scholars.
We have carried on despite the disheartening start of the semester involving armed shooters and the killing of a beloved faculty member. These events continue to color our students’ lives as well as those of our faculty and staff. In fact, I will be participating in an upcoming Active Shooter Training here at the Kenan Center. The training is geared for those faculty and staff who have direct responsibility for students such as those in the classroom during the recent emergency lockdowns. It is sad that we must prepare for such situations but prepare we must.
Read on below for more program updates and good news. We look forward to your ongoing engagement with the Luther Hodges Scholars program and invite you to join us for any of the Kenan Institute’s events and activities that piqué your interest. Check them out here.
In her follow up to Frontiers Conference goers, Dr. Paige Ouimet, the Kenan Institute’s newest executive director, shared the following:
I am so happy to call you all friends, and I wish you a great fall and upcoming holiday season with family and friends!
Warmest regards,
Kim
