This spring, the Luther Hodges Scholars Advisory Council met virtually for a lively and thoughtful discussion aimed at enhancing the program’s impact. Members provided valuable insights on improving the program’s alumni engagement portal, sharing effective strategies to cultivate deeper connections with graduates. The group also examined two key issues raised by the program: how to assist scholars in understanding the real-world implications of current economic challenges—such as tariffs and taxation—on the business sector and their future financial outlook, and how to keep scholars actively involved in the program amidst a rapidly changing campus environment and heightened academic, social, and professional commitments.
The meeting concluded with a candid and constructive discussion about members’ experiences on the Advisory Council and ideas for enhancing its structure and reach. We’re especially grateful for Chuck Lovelace’s thoughtful leadership, who has served as the inaugural chair of the Advisory Council with vision and dedication. While Chuck will be stepping down from this role, we’re delighted that he will continue to serve as an active member of the Council. The positive energy and renewed commitment shown during the meeting reflect a shared enthusiasm for advancing the program’s mission and supporting our extraordinary students.
