One of the great joys of working with the Luther Hodges Scholars Program is staying connected with our scholars long after they graduate. On Friday, August 28, we had the pleasure of gathering with LHS alumni in Atlanta, Georgia, for dinner, conversation, and a chance to reconnect with one another and the program.

Regional alumni gatherings like this one are an important part of how we hope to support our alumni beyond Chapel Hill. They give us an opportunity to maintain relationships, learn how we can support alumni’s continued development as cross-sector leaders, and help them remain connected to UNC Kenan-Flagler and their alma mater. Just as importantly, we want to foster community among alumni themselves and establish an LHS presence in regions where our graduates live and work, creating a supportive community and network that recent graduates can join as they begin the next stage of their journeys.

Our Atlanta dinner at Krog Street Market brought together 11 alumni representing six graduating classes. Kaseem Ladipo, Executive Director of Soccer in the Streets, also joined us and shared his perspective as an internship site supervisor and longtime program mentor. The evening was exactly what we hoped it would be: warm conversation, professional and personal updates, new connections, and the simple pleasure of spending time together.

We were delighted to reconnect with so many familiar faces and to see the community our alumni continue to build. We’re grateful for opportunities like this to remain part of their journeys and look forward to growing LHS communities in Atlanta and other regions where our alumni call home.
