Announcing Our 2024 Cross-Sector Internship Partners

 Each summer, the Luther Hodges Scholars program collaborates with for-profit and not-for-profit organizations across the globe to provide scholars with a Cross-Sector Internship Experience. This initiative offers scholars a fully funded, eight-week internship in which they use their business skills and knowledge to address a particular societal need. The following organizations are serving as internship sites for Summer 2024:

CLIMB USA is endeavoring to mitigate the racial wealth gap by teaching and empowering individuals from underserved communities to build wealth through engagement with the capital markets. The Luther Hodges Scholars team will analyze CLIMB USA from an economic development policy perspective and will build upon the work of the 2023 team which created a roadmap for the scalability of CLIMB USA.

The KAL Firm’s team of consultants include nonprofit and small business thought leaders providing strategy, leadership development, and virtual operations consulting to non-profit organizations. The Luther Hodges Scholars team (working as SBAs or Small Business Analysts) will serve to help solve KAL Firm client’s toughest business problems.

Kenan Foundation Asia works in Thailand and the surrounding region to inspire students, develop skilled people, and grow strong leaders by empowering them with the knowledge, technology, and skills necessary for a better future. The Luther Hodges Scholars team will work across different business units to develop a market expansion strategy and conduct research initiatives.

Peak Health is a health insurer and health insurance services company working to make health care more accessible, understandable, and collaborative. The Luther Hodges Scholars team will serve as Peak Advantage Program Analysts, working with the Population Health Services Organization team to  evaluate the needs and experience of  Peak’s Medicare Advantage members and analyze data to develop recommendations for programmatic changes.

The U.S. Commercial Service is the trade promotion arm of the U.S Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration and is represented through a global network of trade specialists in 108 U.S. Offices locates in U.S. Embassies and Consulates in more than 80 countries. The Luther Hodges Scholars team will gain practical business experience in the field of international trade and be involved in all aspects of the work of an International Trade Specialist to include conducting client outreach, organizing and promoting international trade events and seminars, managing client databases and collaborating with the NC Trade Export team.

The Washington Institute, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, is committed to working on a series of projects that have global implications and call for the need for business, government, and society to work together. The Luther Hodges Scholars team will serve as Research and Policy Interns, working to help bridge the gaps to find greater understanding among leaders in business, government, and society as to the challenges facing the world.

Program staff facilitate bi-weekly reflection sessions for scholars to gather and discuss the impact of their experience. We’re pleased to share that the scholars are underway on this summer’s experience and are excited for their personal and professional development opportunities.
