Fridah Mbwaya ’22 is from Nairobi, Kenya. As a business administration and economics double major, her professional interests include consulting, economic development, economic empowerment of women, and global business, with a special focus on the African continent. Fridah decided to join the Kenan Scholars program to interact with mentors from leading industries, to learn from the affiliated centers and for the chance to develop her own research on the intersection of business and the public sector.

In addition to being a Kenan Scholar, Fridah is a Robertson Scholar, a student leader with Accessibility Resource and Service, and the operations manager for Khaya Magazine at Duke. Fridah’s hobbies include music, art, journalism, chess and traveling. After college, Fridah is interested in furthering her education, exploring the intersection between political science, philosophy and economics, and devoting time to positively influencing economic growth on the African continent.
