The event fostered both professional development and personal bonding, creating a more comfortable and collaborative atmosphere among the cohort.
Samhita Gattupalli, Class of 2025, shares her experience from her internship with the U.S. Department of Commerce, where she gained leadership skills in the cross-sector space by working with business leaders, analyzing large data sets, and developing policy briefs. The internship provided opportunities for professional growth through networking, technical training in Salesforce and Power BI, and exposure to a variety of industries and government operations.
The Luther Hodges Scholas Class of 2026 joyfully reunited for the Summer All Scholar Session, sharing experiences from their diverse internships around the globe, which included activities like nature hikes in Thailand and exploring cuisines in Atlanta. The session featured insights from Dr. Kim Allen on leadership qualities and personal growth, encouraging the cohort to reflect on their leadership journeys and the skills they've developed through their cross-sector experiences.

Because the program and its scholars rely on each other for support, each cohort of Scholars presents two representatives to participate in the LHS Leadership Council to amplify the voices of their peers. Larkin Gliddon and Lucia Park, as the two members representing the sophomore class, outline the function of the Leadership Council and detail our experiences thus far as the Council’s newest members.

Following Dr. Watson's Kenan Institute Distinguished Fellows presentation, "An Economist's Guide to Immigration Reform", Scholars had the opportunity to explore Dr. Tara Watson's research and professional experiences and learn what advice she has for future professionals. Leading the discussion was Gabriela Goodman, an LHS Class of 2023 graduate who can speak on her work with Dr. Watson and experiences as a new professional.
During spring break, Kesan Ucheya secured funding from the Luther Hodges Scholars Program to explore the public and social sector with Deloitte. This enriching experience included visiting Deloitte's offices, engaging in case studies, and participating in a pro bono client site visit.
