Aleena Islam is from Cary, North Carolina. As a Business Administration and Political Science double major, Aleena’s professional interests include law, policy, economic inequality, affordable housing, and economic development. Aleena decided to become a Luther Hodges Scholar based on her desire to fight for social justice and the public good through economic and business policy.
In addition to being a Luther Hodges Scholar, Aleena is also the events coordinator for the UNC Pakistan Society, serves as the alumni outreach chair for the UNC Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Professional Fraternity, and has been a copyeditor for the Daily Tar Heel and The Internationalist. Aleena’s hobbies include advocacy, reading, copyediting, and exploring new coffee shops.
