Daniel Gitterman is the Duncan MacRae ’09 and Rebecca Kyle MacRae Professor of Public Policy at UNC-Chapel Hill and Director of the Honors Seminar in Public Policy and Global Affairs in Washington, D.C. A recipient of multiple teaching awards, Dan’s research focuses on the American presidency, public policy, education and labor markets, and the politics of social and health policy. He has authored several influential books, including The Intersector, which explores how public, private, and nonprofit sectors collaborate to address complex societal challenges.
Dan brings deep expertise and a collaborative spirit to the Luther Hodges Scholars Program Advisory Council. He regularly contributes insights through Kenan Institute publications and annual lectures for LHS scholars, sharing perspectives on cross-sector partnerships and leadership. His work and guidance continue to shape initiatives that prepare future leaders to drive impact across sectors.
